Week 2 - Intramural and Team Building Activities & Aquatics

We have learned some sorts of Intramural Activities (Dodgeball, Bowling Pin Dodgeball, Kickball, Blob) that have been provided in high school during the lunch hours in the past. We have learned general rules and several strategies so you can play as well as the other students with more experience. Good luck in the future IM activities this year!

We also did a team building activity which is to support each other getting up with feet only. We did with a partner, and then with two partners. We added one person by one, after each successful attempt. Finally, we did a full group attempt which was a long struggle that included miscommunication, use of different leaders, and physical challenges. Your frustration level increased and you all started pointing fingers or venting your frustrations towards each other. At one point, you all realized what you were doing weren't helping so you all changed your attitude and tried to work together! At the end, you all proved there are no excuses, that positive attitude is the way to improve communication and to beat obstacles. Yay! :)

We will be participating in aquatics on Thursdays. Toby Lucas and Joey Bell are our lifeguards and aquatic instructors. They will be providing you basic life-saving lessons along with aquatic fitness skills this semester. We will begin with UltraSwim Rookie Program, which is the first level. It will take approximately one semester to complete all tasks under Rookie Patrol.

Last Friday, instead of going to the gym, we went through Introduction to Fitness. We discussed the need of Physical Education course in our school (I hope you remember the purpose of P.E.!). We also discussed Fitness Health-Related Components. All information is in your handbook that has been given to you last Friday.

Example of the handbook:

We meet again in the classroom this coming Monday to discuss FITNESS TESTS that we will do for this week and next week. It will start Tuesday. Be prepared to work out!
